Muppets returning to TV?
Muppet fever grew to a fever pitch in anticipation of the Thanksgiving release of The Muppets, and it looks like NBC is going to try to ride Kermit and the gang’s coattails to improve their struggling ratings by bringing them back to the small screen.
The premise of “The New Nabors” is a Palm Springs family that wakes up one morning to find that their new neighbors are not your typical 2.5 kids and a dog so much as a gaggle of puppets and, hence, Muppet-abulous chaos ensues.
The project, which hails from Jim Henson Studios in association with Universal Television, will be written by30 Rock executive proudcer John Riggi and John Hoffman, who will also executive produce alongside Henson Company CEO and Jim Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson.
It’s no Raquel Welch slinking across stage with some furry friends, but maybe she’ll make a cameo appearance every once in a while.
