New alcohol with the buzz and without the hangovers

Media_httpdldropboxco_zvlbk

Here’s a scientific innovation I imagine to be controversial: According to the Telegraph, British scientists are working on a synthetic alcohol substitute that would give “drinkers” the pleasant feeling of being buzzed without any of the risks—no addiction and no mood swings. Another bonus: You can turn it off. Before hopping in the car, simply take the antidote, and you’re back to normal.

The substitute is possible, but getting approval could be difficult. That may be the reason more work on the substitute hasn’t been done already. Funding is another issue. Brewers, vintners, and distillers aren’t very interested in paying for the scientists’ research, but some governments may be.

The ability to turn off the buzz seems like a good thing, especially for people who insist on driving after a night out. Even still, what happens when we live in a world where people can lose their inhibitions with fewer consequences?

although I admire your idealism, get real! That's like bring against contraceptives because young people shouldn't be having sex anyway. If you can't prevent it at least make it safer.
