Northwestern University students might want to stock up on cigs, booze, and uncomfortable undergarments because the prestigious school has started offering a course on “Mad Men.” The class is titled “How to get Wasted at Work and Still be Productive 101.” Not really.
The sixteen freshman students enrolled in the class learn about consumerism in the 1960s by watching and analyzing the first season of the popular AMC show. Assistant professor of history Michael Allen launched the seminar class as a way to study “how ordinary people participated in history and produced change in politics broadly conceived.”
