NYC tap water consumers get bonus micro-shrimp
You spend a lifetime keeping separate sets of dishes, checking every package for the kosher green light, and then you find out the city’s been sneaking shellfish into the water. The copepods do have a purpose beyond offending orthodox Jews; they are used to eat mosquito larvae. Those who have lodged complaints were told by the Department of Environmental Protection to use a commercial filter, which should remove the little critters before consumption of the tap water. Cocktail sauce with your water bill, anyone?
