Patients trust docs, but skim WebMD anyway

Patients look up their illnesses on the Internet, not because they mistrust their doctors, but to be better informed and to play an active role in their own care.

“This was somewhat surprising and suggests that doctors need not be defensive when their patients come to their appointments armed with information taken from the Internet,” says UC Davis researcher Xinyi Hu.
