Pennsylvania to crack down on kids in casino parking lots
When casinos started making their mark in the cities (and budgets) of Pennsylvania, the last thing on the mind of local law enforcement was childcare. Looks like it’s time to think again.
Twelve children and a dog were found in cars parked in Philadelphia’s Parx Casino during the months of June, July and August, and the most recent incident appears to have broken the camel’s back. A grandfather was charged with endangering the welfare of a child when he left a twelve-year-old boy locked in the car without AC or keys to take a chance on the tables.
Legislators are upping the ante for irresponsible guardians by making such actions a felony punishable by seven years in the slammer. Don’t expect a Kindercare behind the nickel slots any time soon, though; Parx VP, Tom Bonner says kids simply do not belong in casinos.
