Phil Kotler explains Marketing 3.0 in one slide
Philip Kotler literally wrote the book on modern marketing. His work with the “4Ps” (product, place, price, and promotion) defined the marketing mix of many companies for years. His most recent book is Chaotics: The Business of Managing and Marketing in the Age of Turbulence.
I used his textbook in college, so it was so cool to be on a conference agenda with him today. In one part of his speech, he defined “Marketing 3.0,” so I thought I would share his slide with you. Sometimes, one slide is all it takes.

Mr. Kotler was in Bulgaria 2 weeks ago. I was glad to see him LIVE as far as I also used his textbook in the University.
Here you can find all of my videos and pictures from his seminar in Sofia - http://www.novavizia.com/6440.html
This slide is interesting in that it documents the social aspects of business, but I fail to see anything new or remarkable here.
If anything, these "Marketing 3.0" concepts are older than modern - our great-grandparents would have seen the language as a bit high concept, but they would absolutely embody these aspects in their local mercantile or panaderia.
Frankly - when I think of Marketing 3.0, I envision a community (the market) dictating design and providing thought leadership in the 4 P's to a team capable of executing (the business)... so that business plans and initiatives flow from the marketplace to the business, rather than the 1900's corporate model of a business dictating to the marketplace what is "good".
Seth Godin started hinting around at this concept in Flipping the Funnel.
I don't believe Marketing 3.0 will be a quantum leap forward, but rather a new way of thinking about how to use the tools we now have to rapidly invent, deploy, and reinvent new products and businesses.
Great Guy!
Cheers
