Plastic surgery for men on the rise
When it comes to a quick nip and tuck to tweak the toll of Father Time, women still dominate the field, but thanks to the recession and the younger faces dominating the tech scene, more and more men are turning to plastic surgery to give them an edge.
The most common procedures men underwent were facelifts and nose jobs, followed by eyelid surgery, liposuction, breast reductions and hair transplants, and men now make up almost ten percent of plastic surgery recipients thanks to a two percent rise between 2009 and 2010.
The increased visibility of celebrity men going under the knife, plus the overwhelming representation of younger men in the booming tech sector are putting the pressure on men to keep their youthful appearances as well as more competitive employment outlook.
“Men have a new attitude toward cosmetic surgery than what we've seen historically," Dr. Phil Haeck, ASPS president and a board-certified plastic surgeon, told WalletPop. "Many stashed away some cash during the recession so they could come out of it with a younger look, ready to attack the job market.”
Looks like plastic surgery might be the best bet for job security in the years to come.
