    What lucky dogs.

  • I am so happy this little mo was saved but it will be a lot of work for her and whoever takes her! I hope she will be spayed after this.

  • Irene

so glad that Gracie was rescued and her pups born. That they all have a home speaks volumes to rescuing pets,,,,regardless of what type of animal they may be. God bless you all.

  • amy

Thank you for taking such good care of Gracie and her babies. They’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful. Best wishes.

  • Why ? What did she do to derveurs this ? Was she a danger to anyone ?

  • jackie

Glad everything worked out for the good

  • Colleen

Sorry, but any shelter that would put down or even think about putting down this dog when they darned well know the pups at least would be very adoptable should not have the right to be in operation. We need to get some standards on what can pass as shelters or not.
Thanks to all that saved this dog and her pups.

  • Dee

Dogs get euthanized because there is no room at the shelter, please adopt or foster from city shelters and rescues.

  • Pattie Natale

    Where is Vet Ranch located?

  • Happy 4 Gracie and her babies! Makes me so very happy that you and your family took CARE of them. Thank you so very much!!

  • rachel

A better question is: who on earth would euthanize a pregnant dog?

  • awesome im sooo happy

  • frank21142226

Thank You Very Much For Doing The Wonderful Things That You Do !!

  • Cat

Kim she was probably abandoned BECAUSE she was pregnant. Some people are nasty when it comes to the welfare of animals. They should never had a pet in the first place. The fines for animal abuse and abandonment needs to be way higher than it is. I have taken animals out of neglegtive homes, when I find out about it, even tho its not legal.

  • How the hell did all of those puppies fit into her?

  • Bea Grayson

Kimbery, don’t you get it? These subhumans think everything is just a throw away. Poor baby was just an inconvenience. Shame, shame on them and thank you to the rescue folks. God Bless those who help the helpless.

  • I cried to see Gracie’s story, but, I pray every day that God stop the Killing of all dogs, in America there are thousands of dogs killed so cruelly my Hearts breaks and this is every DAY and I pray for an answer most all of these dogs are all just looking for LOVE they need it, they want to give it, Please someone help stop the killing!!!!!!!

  • WOW. what an amazing story…love the vet for all the worked he did with this girl and her puppies:)

  • jane

a subhuman would leave a dog like this …a real scumbag…they should be put in jail.

  • Barbara

Ones that doesn’t care about their pet!!!

  • Nina

she looks like a border collie, which is one of the top intelligent dogs, I can’t believe they even consider eunthamizing dogs like her

  • Kimberley

You and your family and office staff are so wonderful to have taken such great care of these little puppies and most of all momma. Gold Bless you.

  • jo adderly

i am so happy that she was not euthanized. thank you so much for rescuing her and taking such good care of her and her puppies

  • Lynn

Lots of people give up pregnant animals, animals they consider “too old”, animals that are sick. This dog’s owner apparently was too lazy and useless to have her spayed and then when she got pregnant decided that their irresponsibility merited the death penalty for the dog. 10,000 animals die in so-called “shelters” across the US daily. Spay/neuter/confine your pets. If you can’t keep them, take the time to find a loving home for them. Most shelters have kill rates of up to 85-90% so what makes anyone think their pet will be adopted when they abandon them at one? Owner surrenders are usually killed the moment the owner leaves due to space. Does not matter even if they are purebred. Others normally get 3-5 days to see if someone shows up. Your dog or cat may be nice at home but stick them in a cage with a bunch of strangers and dogs barking non-stop and see how they become. They are quickly labeled “unadoptable” due to fear or aggression because they feel they are protecting themselves. If you own a pet it is your responsibility to see that it does not reproduce at will and that it is provided food, shelter, and medical care, and if you are not ready for that responsibility, don’t get a pet in the first place.

  • John Pender

John, Thanks Doc you did a terrific thing. God bless you. I hope all the pups find loving forever homes.
Please folks, adopt your next dog from a shelter. They are the best dogs and they will love you forever.
    Thank you.

  • what a wonderful story, glad all puppies and mother are doing well.

  • Why the hell would they even think of euthanized her while she was pregnant anyways. That is so cruel.

  • Judy

I hope they all find homes. Glad she wasn’t euthanized.

  • Shery

xrays! next they will be doing a c-section on her!

  • So heartwarming to see someone really cared enough to save Gracie and her litter. God bless you all. PS: your children are adorable!!

  • betsy an

I am really grateful for Gracie and her 12 puppies.. Thank you so much for saving and giving a new life for Gracie.

  • Wow, wonderful!! Congratulations Gracie and welcome to the world lil dozen pups! Thank you for saving all these lives, many blessings to you and your family!!

It isn’t so cute when you multiply this by a million.

  • Shirley

I’m so glad you are a Vet. and have such a loving heart. This makes me feel so good that these precious puppies and Gracie have a better life with caring generous people. This is such a good story and thank you and your family for such tender care and love!.

  • Anthony

It would be better to euthanize the owner and save the dog.

  • Tom

If this would have been a woman they wouldn’t have thought twice about giving her an abortion to get rid of her ” inconvenience” !!?? What a screwed up country!!

  • Tom

If this would have been a woman these same people wouldn’t have had any problem giving her an abortion to rid her of her ” inconvenience ” !!? What a screwed up country!!

  • danae sparrow

Fantastic. Wonderful video. Very educational as well as heartwarming. Best to Gracie and all her beautiful babies.

  • Rachael said the same thing I was thinking…..who in the world would kill a pregnant dog……These kill shelters are as bad as the people that abandon them. There has to be a way to protect these beautiful babies. They kill the dogs that come and take more…..What is the logic to that…..I just don’t understand….

  • Chad

I bet most of the people crying about dog euthanizing are just fine with aborted human babies.

  • I have an IDEA!!! We should start euthanizing people, especially all those lazy shit sluts who pop out a kid and go straight to welfare. We humans are the most destructive, Un grateful, GREEDIEST LAZY SHITS species on the planet. Bur MOTHEE NATURE WILL HAVE THE LAST SAY….

  • danae sparrow

Fanastic! Wonderful video. Educational as well as heartwarming. A long happy life to Gracie and all of her beautiful pups. Congratulations on the fine work you’re doing.

  • Donnell

    I’m so happy

  • Rich

She gave birth two twelve adorable pups

That should be to not two, you may want to edit.

  • Who ever it was that wanted to euthanize this family was wrong enough said. She shows to be a good mother and this VET is a good person. Everybody who watches this should send some money in Gracie’s name to help other dog’s like her.

  • God bless people who do good! This Vet is awesome!

  • Christy

Awesome!! Love to see that thank you to ALL who was involved in saving this baby girl and her pups!!

  • Patricia

What a beautiful story and video, brought tears to my eyes.Thank goodness Gracie and one of her pups have a forever home. What a little trooper Gracie is.

  • Mary

Loved this video. That dog reminded me of my first dog as a married woman. She was a springer spaniel mix.
How lucky was Gracie. Perhaps those dogs are coming up North where I live!!!! Keep up your fabulous work!

  • Eric

From D Ranch to Puppy Ranch, lol, you are truly awesome.

  • Barb Smith

I am thankful the mom was not put down, but where were the editors of the article? “She gave birth two twelve adorable pups.” Try “to” twelve adorable pups.

  • Hazel

Gracie looks sssooooo much like a female that i took in about 3 years ago. “Friday” had about 8 puppies under an abandoned car at a local shop. The owner asked me did I want a pup…I said NO !!!! I want the momma dog. Puppies are the first to find homes (and they did) but very few momma dogs find that forever home. Well, Friday has found her forever home with me and my 2 other rescues. PLEASE SPAY/NEUTER…..AND ALWAYS ADOPT A RESCUE.

  • Kim

What a beautiful story about life.

  • The same idiot who allowed her to become pregnant is who gave her up. Spay and neuter people MILLIONS of dogs die every year because so many people don’t get their dogs altered, they allow them to become pregnant then throw them away. Dogs and cats are NOT disposable. And for those of you who don’t have your males neutered it just as much your fault. If you love dogs, love the whole species enough to not murder them. And when you allow your dog to breed that is exactly what you’re doing. You are murdering dogs already born to stupid who allowed it to happen. Simply stated, there are more dogs than there are good homes.

  • Thank God you were there for her and her babies !!

  • Diana N

Thank Dr and your family to take care of the dog, God bless you and your family with beautyful children,

  • This vet is one in a trillion. Most vets start off well intentioned, after grad school, and then to into practice, and pretty soon it’s the almighty dollar that becomes most important and their number one priority, with the animals coming second. Very few do any pro bono and yet they are in a profession dedicated to helping and saving animals. Kind of an oxymoron isn’t it. Our motto now. “We;’ll help, but you pay up first.”

  • penelope l. penderhausen

Most facilities that pick up strays will hold them for 5-7 days, then either try to move them to a no kill shelter or euthanize due to lack of space. I see a lot of very naïve comments regarding the cruelty of a facility that would euthanize a pregnant dog. Most of these places do NOT have the funding, the space, the food or the vet care available to care for these animals. One way to STOP THE KILLING…..take a dog or two or a cat or two and FOSTER them until a home can be found. If you don’t like the way things are handled, BE THE VOICE TO CHANGE IT, not the voice that just complains about it. In other words DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT or shut your pie hole. The real cruelty is the owner who obviously abused her (i.e. the damaged eye), did NOT spay her and allowed her to get pregnant to begin with. Also, the owner of the male dog that wasn’t neutered. Most areas have spay and neuter clinics, reduced rates for low income persons and will work with you to allow payments. Stop it where it starts, spay and neuter.

  • James

    What about the father?

  • Lily Moellenberndt

So happy you saved these dogs! Good luck to Gracie and her pups!

  • adele

how wonderful, what a miracle. good job momma gracie. God bless you and your babies. God bless this organization.

  • Eudie Lynn

I caught my breath when I saw the picture. She looks exactly like my Kenzie who was an unwanted puppy herself until I got her. She is a beautiful three year old lady now and so smart and sassy. Kenzie will never have puppies because I had her spayed as soon as she was old enough, but it make me think what if I hadn’t taken her and she’d been left to roam the streets. This could have easily been my baby. Thanks to all those who rescue dogs. I wish I could take them all!!!!!

  • Anne

Anthony I agree with you. I believe that people who mistreat animals should have to endure the same things they do to the animals.

  • Marty

    U r wonderful

  • Sherry

So heartwarming to see and appreciate the love and care you give to your family and Gracie’s. I have a wonderful dog that was one of thirteen in a junkyard. Wish I could have taken them all but as it was I only managed to save the one. The rest died as a result of neglect due to bad diet and a very bad environment. Thank God mine is healthy and very spoiled due to love and care. He’s eighty pounds of love, companionship, and protectiveness.

  • Great job. So glad the mom and her babies were saved.

  • Brian A.

A big Thank you for Vet Ranch and going out of your way to do the right thing. Gracie and her puppies are sweet and innocent and should have every opportunity to live a great and happy life. Wonderful story and we need like this in the World. God bless and keep doing the right thing.

  • ANY GUESS AS TO THEIR BREED?

  • karla

  • DanielH

Thank you for sharing. We need more of this in this world……

  • Trish

You are awesome and sweet to do that . She is beautiful and looks like a good momma. Thank you for caring for her I have done that many of times here for cats and dogs. Nice to see others care like I do. 🙂

A better question is: who on earth would euthanize a pregnant dog?
Answer, the same kind of people that abort human babies

  • John

You should get your daughter to pick your next Lotto Jackpot numbers. She’s good with numbers. Good Luck!!

  • Cecil

Please spay or neuter your cat or dog. Doing so will prevent overpopulation and euthanization of thousands if not millions of animals each year.

  • Cecil

Euthanization happens every day and more often than you think.

  • Lulu

How could someone do that to her? She seems so sweet and loving. Shame on whoever did that. I hope they all have a long and happy life.

  • maria flores

Damn I really loved this whole entire story, wish they would do this with all doggies that are pregnant and that are about to be put down!

  • over 14 billion dollars every year (not including charities), over 100 years (of failures and lies). charities and the historical failure of animal research, what charities will never tell you, all of the facts are on my youtube/ms4mula1

  • Alan

Thank you doctor for sharing this beautiful story..

  • Jud

Thank you Vet Ranch, good job……………………..for saving the mother and puppies.

  • I would like to make a donation to Vet Ranch to help out with the expenses for Gracie & her puppies, please jot me a note to my e-mail address & let me know how to do this. Thank you so much for being such a caring Vet, caring for Gracie & her puppies, this world has changed into such a cruel place for humans & even more so for animals, especially dogs.

  • Thats a lot of X-Rays eh… just another experiment! That can’t be good for the babies! This is BS Saved her, for what, to experiment xray xray xray!!!!

  • Bonnie

Thanks for saving her and helping her with her new litter of puppies. They are so cute. You are earning your angel wings.

  • What a great story. I also have a Gracie and she could be this Gracie’s litter mate. She is part blue heeler/Australian Cattle dog. They even have the same polka dot collar. My Gracie loves all kids, adults, and kitties. They are the greatest. God bless her and the new pups future.

  • Da Muff

Thanks for saving the pups. I hope they find great caring homes. One concern is exposing the pups and mom to the xroys. I hope they are not harmed by the xrays.

  • Monica Richardson

  • Dwight Morrison

How about if we find this dog’s recent former owner and have him or her euthanized?

  • I read every comment and hope all of these nice people (if possible) own a ‘RESCUE DOG OR KITTY!” All of my Kitties were ‘Ferals’ when I got them! My Cats are between between 15 and 20 something years old now! I took care of 2 baby “Tuxcedo’s as a ‘Foster Mom’ If you are going to surrender them to be adopted when their health is excellent because of your tender loving care…for ‘goodness sake’ …Don’t give them Names! Once you do you know you are in love! My Babies are now nearly 2 and they are so beautiful (brother and sister) and full of ‘Personality’! Recently I adopted their year younger sister! She is totally adorable! I have 8 wonderful old and young precious adopted kitties that make my life joyous every day! If I tho’t I could replace my wonderful Dog that I had to put down 2 years ago…I would get a ‘Rescue’! My doggy loved Cats! I can’t help but wonder if ‘Gracie’s’ puppies will have a ‘Forever Life’ with new Mom’s or Dad’s loyal caring Love (and willing to pay Vet’s Bills if Life hands them a hard blow!? God Bless all of you caring people involved with ‘Gracie’ and those who commented who stand behind their loving words!

  • Gary Baggett

I’m a Mail Carrier in Murfreesboro, Tn. and oh, ’bout 4 + years ago a longhair trucker pulls into a Pilot Travel Center, ties the dog to a fuel pump goes into the showers, fuels up and LEAVES HER!..later that afternoon the attendants notice a “very tired” doggie just laying by the pumps tied up and a cashier rehashes the story to all involved and the untie her…”swoosh”..she’s gone and for many weeks people around the Industrial Park area feed her, BUT can get no closer!…PERIOD….she had pups, the city came out to collect them, but couldn’t get “mom”. 4 years later she makes her rounds from plant to plant, but no one has EVER been able to touch her!….just imagined the trucker knew she was with pups and abandoned her?…..but she’s better off without him and has survived the cold winters and hot summers of Middle Tennessee, MANY workers at the facets have doghouse and supply food, but weekends get a little “sparse” at times…..she’s a joy to see (most) everyday!……

  • Jerri

The facility that was going to euthanize her and that DOES euthanize pregnant dogs should be burned to the ground. Pathetic. Cursed be the hands who do this. Cursed be the lives of those who participate in this. So mote it be.

  • Rhonda Miller

Thank God for caring people. God Bless You. There must be special place in Hell for the cruel people who mistreat animals.

  • Lori

Thank you for taking her in and letting her have her babies. They are all so sweet. How sad to think they would have all been killed.

  • Cheryl

Thank you for all you do! I just rescued a three legged momma and one of her pups (she had 5). She and the pups were to be euthanized when the pups were 2 days old. A rescue worker here found them in another city and brought them here. That momma is the sweetest dog and looks at me like I am the best thing on earth! I have rescued many many dogs (and horses and cows and pigs and goats and mini horses!) and all of them are so so so appreciative. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a village to rescue animals! Thanx again!

  • Thanks Doc for your dedication, compassion, knowledge and heart!

  • Melva Herbold

Where are you guys? And I’m thinking I like Gracie.

  • This dog story has a wonderful ending. How can an owner put down a healthy pregnant young dog? I dont get it & never will as dogs (all animals) deserve life once born. Can you imagine–12 puppies from a small dog? The young dog, Gracie, was spared her life to give life to 12 sweet puppies. Im glad Vet Ranch that you have given great care to Gracie & her pups. I hope all of the dogs have a happy & healthy life 🙂

  • Carlene Johnson

GOD BLESS YOU DOCTOR FOR YOUR COMPASSION AND LOVE OF THESE PRECIOUS PUPS AND MOM. IF I
HAD A FENCED IN YARD IN THE COUNTRY, I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE SOME OF THEM. YOU ARE GREAT!

  • I have a female foster, Cooper, that I pulled from the pound last year, not fully grown at the time, who looks a lot like Gracie! She is very loving, but food guards with other dogs. She is very playful and sweet. She needs a better home than I can give her. She is dalmation-pit. (I pulled 13 dogs from the pound last year, adopted 3, in addition to my 2 other 80 lb dogs. Still have Cooper and her buddy Copper, a red tick-pit, as fosters. The others have all been placed in great homes, plus the Treeing Walker Hound and her 4 puppies that i rescued from under an abandoned shed and fostered, and 4 more puppies that I fostered, for the Humane Society.) It is hard to feed 5 large and 2 mid size dogs, plus vet them, along with our 10 cats and the 7 Humane Society foster cats. If anyone could give her or her buddy Copper a GREAT home, please contact me.

I adopted a dog with the same story. Her owner took her to a vet to be euthanized when she was very pregnant. Saving grace – she had her puppies that night. Lincolnton Humane Society stepped in and all puppies were eventually adopted into loving homes. But when my mom saw that beautiful mama dog in foster care, she knew Sadie belonged in our family someway, somehow. Long story short, Sadie is my best friend and I cannot imagine a day without my sassy girl. It’s amazing how stupid people can be, but in the same breath, it is amazing that there are so many wonderful people, fosters, agencies and even these posts, that show us that love and compassion still exist. Sadie is 9 now, and I have another adoptee (who has ‘unknitted’ most of my carpets) – couldn’t love them more and will continue to adopt from the Humane Society. Truly dog is God backwards intentionally. (My cat doesn’t quite agree).

  • Mary Vivian Davis

I enjoyed watching the video of Gracie and her family that were saved by wonderful and caring people. Thank you !

  • pennye

Perhaps the irresponsible owners should be euthanized instead of an innocent animal who depended on their humans.

  • What a bunch of pieces of crap people are who would euthanize a pregnant doggie much less one that isn’t. How do these people sleep at night. Well, because they simply don’t care of have a guilt feelings about anything. Humans are suppose to be smarter than this. It is time to stop this senseless killing of our dogs and cats and come up with commonsense approaches that are totally obtainable to control animal population and severely punish anyone abusing animals of any kind. We are suppose to be the top of the chain and the most intelligent of the species and we certainly don’t show it. Animals are much smarter and kinder than a lot of humans that take up space on our earth. Shame on these people called humans. For the humans that are kind and help save these wonderful creatures I say Thank-You so very much!

  • How about we euthanize the owner who gave this dog up when pregnant? Don’t give me a sad story about how you are poor or sick or some other story because I have been all of them and I still would not do that to an animal when there are so many more solutions. I don’t care what your story is as it wouldn’t be good enough. Even if it was because of a death there should have been someone smart enough to do the humane thing for this animal. No excuses in my world!

  • elaine post

i wish other pregnent dogs could be saved. it not they fault that the owner kick them out.

  • elaine post

i wish more organization will help these pregnant dogs like you did. thank you for saving her and given her and the puppies a great start.

  • Margarete Plaetzer

thank you for saving her. I find it so hard that shelter would kill a pregnant mother.

  • Romana

What a wonderful and beautiful story. Thank God Gracie was saved by this Clinic and maybe have a safe place to live. May Gracie and her puppies find a safe place to live. God will look after her I hope. I myself have two little Chihuahua and a very spoiled Cat name Kitty. I love them dearly.

  • It was a very beautiful story of Grace and her pups I love it
