Prince William homeless

One of the kindest, generous spirits to have graced the earth, Princess Diana would be very proud of her son, Prince William whom has heeded his calling to Centerpoint shelter.

Prince William accepted the challenge made by Seyi Obakin, Chief Executive of Centerpoint to experience being homeless for one night. The men spent the night on the cardboard covered concrete of London in extremely cold temperatures. Prince William's uncomfortable evening was followed by a visit to an area that was occupied by homeless young people and then back to Centerpoint where he cooked and served breakfast for the shelter's dependents.

The Prince will continue his work with the shelter to tackle the causes of homelessness.

Bringing awareness to the global Homeless issue.

I commend the Prince on his efforts. I was homeless and he really does not get the picture unless he spends more than one night. A drunk from a bar can spend one night on the street, a hooker, a wandering monkey, a lost child, a rugby fan on a rampage, they can all be on the street for the night, one night is not being homeless. Have a loss of dignity and loss of shelter, a loss of companionship, loss of those that care due to your actions. That is homeless and one night is an experience, not homeless.

Chris, though I do agree in general with your comments, as I myself spent over a year on the streets homeless as a kid in Las Vegas. However, perspective is everything here. I would have to say that what the prince has done is fearless and more then most have done in his position to actually attempt to understand the reality of life on the other side of the gates that he was born. Even if it's only for one night. I assure you, his view is different than it was before.

That is one of the most impressive thing every Prince could do. Wish he donated to those homeless people too aside from spending the night with them.

I feel as though this another band-aid for the problem...i really do not know what can be done to tackle the real problem!

Yes, this is just the kind of ostentatious show of supposed sympathy/empathy that his high-living mum would have enjoyed. Make it look like you are deeply attuned to the unfortunate before you head off to the yacht. In fact, there is no such thing as experiencing homelessness for one night when you know that the next day your back living the good life. It's voyeurism, and it's shallow...just like his mother was.

Eewwww...Norman you are a meany! I commend Prince William for being in a homeless state for one night. He didn't have to do it at all however I am sure that one night showed him a bit of the picture at least. Your negativity is not becoming of you at all. Diana and William shallow? Please get a life! Diana changed the Royal Family....and William has had the luck to help out with that change and keep it going.
Look into how much money has been donated to all the Charities Diana was involved in. She helped raise money for so many helpful charities and good causes too!

I agree w/ Chris Schuring; The Prince is commended on his rare initiative, but sleeping on the street is not necessarily homeless. Being homeless (after an extended period) is a "mental condition" - I don't care what your circumstances are. If you don't have the memories, trauma, & drama that come w/ being homeless in the first place, you can't measure any "experience" as being homeless. What goes on in the "mind" is EVERYTHING. I should know after being homeless once in my life. Thank GOD I'm out of that situation.
