Protest at Stanford and Gunn High School

Media_httpblogstanfor_sdbjh

The Westboro Baptist Church visited Stanford University and Gunn High School today to protest. This is one explanation of its logic, and here are more photos from its protest at Stanford.

Gunn High School has suffered through five students committing suicide by jumping in front of trains. The daughter of the founder of Westboro, Margie Phelps, said that the students died because they didn’t obey God. She was heard shouting, “You’ll be in front of the train next! God laughs at your calamity.”

More coverage of religion.

The secret to understanding Phelps and the WBC is to understand that they support themselves off of settlements from government agencies that they sue. How does that work? Simple. The WBC shows up and offends pretty much everyone in sight. Then, a scuffle begins or a government employee tells them to leave. They then claim their civil rights were violated by the local government (either by action or inaction) and they file suit (take a look at the number of WBC members who are lawyers... it's a large percentage of the total congregation) and the municipality or other agency being sued settles out of court to save themselves the hassle. It's a messed up scam, but they are able to get away with it because they are careful to offend in a very generic way.

Notice: their signs NEVER identify specific individuals (because that could leave them open to charges of libel) and they HATE the Freedom Riders (who are private citizens, and lack the deep pockets of a government agency.)

These people are the lowest of low and have no life. They tried to break up the school's community but they could not. Instead, the students from different schools got together and showed that stupid "church" that even if there was some horrible moments, they could get together, uniting as one and proving that so-called religious group wrong.
That "church" is no church. They make a horrible example of whatever "religion" they may be. How would they feel if they got horribly hurt or killed like in 9/11? Would "God" hate them for their stupid ways? They contradict themselves in many ways. All they want is money, power, and the pleasure of seeing others suffer.

I think finding "logic" in Phelps is going to be pretty challenging.

this protest is giving us Christians a bad name, their church is a disgrace to our area. This will lead them to convert to satanic, a corrupt cult led by fallen christians.
