“Ride’em cowboy!” could be the new cry on Ryanair

Just because European safety regulators put the kibosh on Ryanair’s idea of standing-room-only flights doesn’t mean the budget carrier is giving up on finding a way of squeezing more passengers on every plane, so grab your hats and get ready to ride cowboy-style with the Skyrider seat from Aviointeriors.

According to the company’s director general, Dominique Menoud:

“We feel extremely confident that this concept will … have great appeal to airlines for economic purposes…”

However he admitted the seat would only be suitable for flights of up to three hours.

“For flights anywhere from one to possibly even up to three hours … this would be comfortable seating.

“The seat … is like a saddle. Cowboys ride eight hours on their horses during the day and still feel comfortable in the saddle.”

While great for stowing more carry-on baggage, it won’t make much of a difference if the airline plans to charge for them anyway and one gets a lovely case of saddle sores to remember their journey by. Heaven help you if you have to use the bathroom, or is that what that white part under the seats is for?

Any word on when we can expect a working teleportation device?
