Rubber duckie to the rescue [time-lapse video]

It’s tough not to break into a smile at the sight of a thirty-one-foot tall rubber duckie, and no place needs a few more smiles these days than Japan. That’s exactly why Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman’s king-size duckie, created in 2009, was resurrected for the Aqua Metropolis Osaka 2011 Festival in October.

Replicas, t-shirts and other duck souvenirs were sold to raise money for earthquake relief as well as to keep the spirits of the city afloat.
