Science confirms that all men watch porn

Today’s “duh” science tidbit comes out of Canada: researchers at the University of Montreal have confirmed that all men watch porn. Shocked, amazed and surprised? Yeah, me neither.

The shocking discovery came (no pun intended, perverts) when scientists set out to conduct a study comparing the views of 20-something men who had never viewed pornography to regular nekkid video fiends. The first step of finding men with virgin eyes proved impossible as the research team could not find one man who had never been exposed (again, no pun meant) to porn.

The researchers were forced to switch the purpose of the study and instead focused on porn consumption habits. Interviews with study participants revealed that 90 percent of porn consumption is from the internet and single men tune in for a little taped action an average of 40 minutes, three times a week.

Oh, and before you go raiding your hubby’s hard drive (the jokes just keep coming), take note that the team found that pornography doesn’t change a man’s perception of women or relationships and has no effect on male sexuality.

Then the team hasn't done real research. Plenty of other studies have said porn watching greatly impacts male sexuality. I know people who have personally suffered greatly both physically and emotionally because of addictions to porn.

Really, really tiny sample size in this "study" -- 20 campus boys does not represent "All Men".

Fully agree with Patrick on this one. I have also known a dozen families that have been broken up by porn. What shocks me is the increasing amount of women that are just "ok" with it.

How can the report claim that all men are exposed to porn and then state that the consumption of porn doesn't change a man's perspective or treatment of women? If ALL men watch porn, then they have no control group with which to compare shifts in attitude, beliefs or treatment of women. The vast majority of porn developed for heterosexual men focuses on submission and dominance and ALL porn promotes sex without fidelity, without love and without consequence. It is beyond my understanding how such broad exposure to this type of stimuli could NOT impact a man's sexuality or his perceptions about women. Perhaps someone should look at the increasing disrespect of women in our society as compared to the increased availabilty and distribution of porn in recent years.

Interesting timing... my blog today lists another study which discusses the devastating effects of pornography, including the way porn usage changes the way men view women. I agree with an earlier comment: the conclusion that "all men" watch porn is hardly scientific.

Here we go, bashing research when we don't like the findings.
Perceptions on the Significance of Science and Research.

It is irresponsible for them to use the word "all" when referring to men, however, I did not see their findings report to see if they used the term "all", or if that was added to the story after for shock value.
