Six mistakes to avoid on email subject lines

If you’re a blogger—or any sort of telecommuter—emails are your lifeline. And more often than not, it’s likely you’ll be the one beginning the online conversation. So to ensure your message gets to that new potential client or future boss, don’t make these common email subject line mistakes that will only get you caught in a spam filter or deleted without a second thought.

1. Don’t create a one word subject line. You may think that you’re being concise, but you’re really just being frustratingly vague. It also comes off as lazy.

2. Don’t use spammy words. People generally don’t open emails containing titles that include words like survey, free gift, win, and so on.
