Plenty of photographers made a wish on a falling star during last night’s Perseid shower, hoping they’d be taking home the prize in 2013 Astronomy Photographer of the Year contest, but the real winners are those of us who get to marvel at their amazing work.
According to the Royal Observatory Greenwich’s Flickr page where the shortlist of finalist entries is on display:
Now entering its fifth year, the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition and exhibition continues to showcase some incredible images from astrophotographers all around the world, presenting beautiful objects from within our solar system and far into deep space.
Winners will be announced on September 19, which is also when a book will be made available containing these amazing shots.
