The best Twitter app for the iPhone

There are virtually hundreds of Twitter apps for the iPhone, but after weeding out those with useless features, bad user interface, and so on—it basically comes down to a handful of apps that deserve your attention. Here is a list of the best iPhone apps for Twitter.

La creme de la creme of Twitter clients for the iPhone is hands down Tweetie 2—according to most polls. Rewritten from the ground up with a fast and powerful new core, Tweetie 2 offers the most polished mobile Twitter experience around. Some of the other benefits include the ability to access multiple accounts, the list integration, the stability, and the clean, slick user interface.

Echofon (which you might remember as TwitterFon) is a close second, although it’s the most expensive of the bunch. It’s fast, easy to use, and has a great user interface. The best Echofon features are its simple functionality, clean and tidy interface, its push notifications and the way it makes uploading photos to Flickr so simple.

Read on to see what other Twitter iPhone apps made the cut, and choose your favourite.

Here’s a preview photo of Tweetie 2:

Tweetie 2 has great features but it needs to fix the auto-retweet ugly ass /via feature. #hateit T2 also has bugs w/multiple users and using lists that hasn't been fixed.

Echofon is a excellent app but it isn't better than Twittelator, which is by far the BEST twitter app out there. The interface is simple, user-friendly options, clean lists, no bugs and it looks good.

EchoFon Pro is by far my favorite. It is a little more expensive but super easy to use with all the features and the developer does an excellent job with frequent updates.

I am an avid "List" user, so supporting this function is really important. Hootsuite released their iPhone app this week, which has very nice list support. You can also schedule tweets from the app, which can be a nice feature when you're on the go..

By far the best. I'd like to think they'll continue to enhance as other features become available. Getting Tweetie 2 out quickly with all its features is noteworthy.
