Every miniature railroad creates a world of its own, but few, if any, seek to recreate the whole thing. That appears to be the goal of the world’s largest model railroad in Hamburg, Germany, though.
Begun in 2001, the project isn’t scheduled to be completed until 2020, but already takes up over 12,000 square feet and includes 890 trains and over 200,000 human figures at airports, concert venues, being chased by polar bears and almost anything else you can imagine. There’s even an alien landing for those whose imaginations go a step beyond Santa.
Check out the video of this not-so-mini marvel and look forward to more over the next decade.
