The top (.5 of) ten lessons from David Letterman

If you had read more about relationships and women, you might not have these issues, David.

There are some important PR lessons in how David Letterman handled the whole “I slept with my employees” thing. So says professor Michelle Roehm of Wake Forest University. She only cites five lessons, though. Shouldn’t there be ten?

The very nature of comedy means that the comedian is a caricature - allowed flaws because those flaws entertain us. Political leaders, on the other land, puff up with haughty attitudes when running for office to position themselves as "above the rest." The backlash is that people then expect them to actually BE better than everyone else.

Americans don't hate philanderers, they hate cowards. Excessive, defensive posturing or excessive apologies both create the face of someone deflecting. Dave owned up to it, and basically said "I'm going to do what it takes to fix my mistake." He took away the fight. He knows what he did. He made a mistake. He's going to fix it. I hope some politicians take note.
