SOPA. PIPA. ACTA? If that last acronym doesn’t ring a bell, it’s probably because ACTA, or the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, has managed to wriggle its way through governments around the world without garnering much press attention.
All of the EU, the United States, Switzerland and Japan have already signed off or ratified the agreement and, according to Forbes, the provisions contained within ACTA “appear quite similar to – and more expansive than – anything we saw in SOPA.”
