"Tweet" word of the year, "Google" word of the decade
The 121-year-old American Dialect Society made its pronouncements for the end of 2009, and it looks like the Web is hot in linguistic circles. Based on the criteria of accuracy, excitement, and durabilility, after an hour long deliberation, the committee of academics proclaimed “tweet” the word of the year and “Google” the word of the decade.
