Check out this ten-minute video summary of Awesomely Simply by John Spence. It’s a good overview of the six core principles that determine a company’s fate.

However, one comment. I'd love to see more photos and metaphors that are less football-oriented and more gender-inclusive. I say that because I believe the companies that are poised for success are those that embrace a more collaborative and "female" style of leadership. For instance, the more "old-fashioned" companies like Ford were built on a very hierarchical, masculine structure - literally built on the principles of the Prussian Army. The successful companies of today are built on more a team-like structure (like Google) and are inherently more "female" in their DNA.
Guy Kawasaki fully embraces the idea of bringing more female thought leadership into the mix of corporate governance. In fact, he recommends that any entrepreneur creating a business plan should show be sure to show it to at least one woman. Guy stated that "Men are programmed to 'kill' and women are programmed to nurture." This nurturing, Guy argued, is critical for a company in its infancy and growing stages.
Again, thanks for the succinct encapsulation of John Spence's book. I look forward to reading it.
But the background music needs a mute button or at least it would help if it were played at a much lower volume. I felt like my ears were being assaulted.
Plus the legal issue L brought up is valid. There are plenty of royalty-free music sites out there.
PS – also, check out www.awesomelysimple.com I have posted a ton of great (free) resources there too!
Great stuff. I wouldn't call it "simple" but I doubt if "Awesomely Comprehensive" would sell as many books. Besides, if running a business were simple, all my investments in start ups would have made me rich by now. I can see where this would serve as a great blueprint for building any company.
