Visualization of IED attacks in Afghanistan 2004-2009 [video]
Wikileaks’ release of thousands of classified documents has stirred a major debate around controversial operations in the Afghanistan War. YouTube user shannonlaratt used data from the leak to create an animated map of IED attacks carried out from 2004 to 2009.
The green dots indicate explosions where no one was hurt, yellow ones are injuries only, and red ones represent fatal IEDs. The left column shows the injury and death tallies for friendlies (including both allied forces and civilians), and the right column shows the tally for those deemed “enemies.”
