Visual.ly brings infographic making to the masses
Top-notch data visualization without any design or animation experience? Visual.ly wants to make it happen.
The infographics-for-all startup launched a public beta site this week that offers a sneak peek at what the company has in store. Rather than just digest a slew of infographics, users can dig in to the site’s tool chest to craft their own custom visualizations.
Visual.ly cofounder Tal Siach spoke with VentureBeat about the opportunities and challenges of infographics: “Both regular and interactive infographics [bring in] a lot of interest (page views) for publishers. But, to make a pie chart move is not that easy. It would take hours and hours to create an infographic in Photoshop, which is why we want to simplify the process so that anyone can create them by selecting options and entering specific data.”
To show off what’s in the works, the company debuted the Twitter Visualizer Project, a feature that generates a personalized infographic based on a user’s Twitter profile. Or, plug in two Twitter-ers' names for a tweeting face-off.
