What the...? London 2012 mascots unveiled
Somewhere in Olympic history, organizers decided the Games’ mascots should look like something tossed together in an intro to abstract art class. London 2012 appears as though it will follow the same trend with a duo of bizarre, cyclops-looking mascots, unveiled this week on BBC’s The One Show. Wenlock and Mandeville even come with a backstory that sounds like the plot of a straight-to-DVD sci-fi flick—the story goes that the twosome magically came to life out of steel droplets left over from the Olympic stadium in Bolton. Would anyone else like to just see a googlie-eyed teacup?
