I have to say I like that there is time being spent on helping people understand how to and when to use social channels however I do have to be a stick in the mud. This is extremely broad and whilst the statistics are correct I’m sure the data is not really that beneficial unless your desire is to make a lot of noise to a lot of people. I think many people view social media as an avenue where there are millions of people all waiting to listen and if you throw information/content (like a bucket of paint) at them it will get a wide spread. The reality is that with social media one needs to be implicit, chat to the communities that want to listen at the times and places that they listen. There is a great deal of strategy involved here, the power of well thought out and implemented social efforts can today, elevate your brands reputation, knowledge and even through to conversions. But, if you spray and pray you will just get a whole bunch of hate mail – it is the new age of e-mail spamming – no-one likes it, don’t do it. I am not attacking those that made this pretty infographic – it is interesting information, however those that know little or nothing about social and are trying to learn will see this and pick up bad habbits, ‘oh that is when people are online, then that is when I shall schedule my 50 posts for the day, ultimately, loosing their interested audience and potential key influencers.
