Who is the most famous person of all time?

Media_httpfarm5static_jizga

Many people enjoy their cliched "15 minutes" these days, but their notoriety quickly fizzles out. The most famous among us remain iconic across generations. But how can you measure John Lennon's fame against Muhammad's? HowStuffWorks.com did.

Having an impressive sphere of influence doesn't necessarily imply fame or celebrity. Assessing someone's fame isn't as simple as measuring wealth, either. HowStuffWorks.com turned to hard data in the quest for the most famous person of all time. For that, the best resource probably lies in today's instant fame machine, the Internet.

:) Landed here from reading a twitter.com entry and I thought it was Jesus then I thought hang on a minute.

Buddha's been around way longer than Jesus and nearly everyone in the east knows him and that would make it about 2 billion people. Plus nearly everyone in the world west knows who's Buddha.

It just show how misleading it can be a title when one is born into a religion and assumes that religion is the only one of a kind.

get out of your prison and see the real world which is made up of all colors and races.

Who knows, maybe they are both the same spirits incarnating at different time periods. :)

Many thanks!

It's funny that you mention Muhammad. Because I was thinking it must be Muhammad Ali.
