World's first commercial jetpack

Media_httpimageshuffi_jcaon

Looking for an easier way to commute to work that doesn’t require sitting in endless traffic? How about cruising the schmucks in cars and popping in to your cubicle courtesy of your own personal jetpack?

The Martin Aircraft Company has developed the world’s first commercially available jetpack that will sell for around $76,000 each. The 007-esque device can travel 31.5 miles on a single tank of gas and boasts safety features that include an internal roll cage, parachute, and no tail rotor or exposed rotors. This is great and all, but where in the name of Doc Brown is my Hoverboard?

How much gas does it hold, and where do you park it? What prevents you from dropping if you run out of gas in flight? What is the altitude capability? None of these questions, and numerous others weren't addressed.

While I second the Hoverboard notion I have to wonder about low altitude air traffic. "Roads? Where we're going we don't need - roads."

With people holding onto the sides, this is nothing more than two trash cans, propellers, fuel, and a little too much time and capital w/ sprinkles of boredom on top.

Hey, if you're one of the first ten owners you get to go to New Zealand for your jet pack training! Oh and it qualifies as an FAA Part 103 Ultralight !

Wow! That's a pretty reasonable cost compared to what I was expecting to read. Looks like that jet pack savings fund I started as a kid will finally find a use.
