The amazing amount we don’t know about breastmilk
Perhaps it’s because we label breastmilk as free that we, as a society, know more about coffee, tomatoes, and erectile dysfunction than we know about the first superfood we eat on this Earth. When we seriously consider the powerhouse of nutrients mothers produce day in and day out, we might actually stop treating it as free and start valuing both the time and energy it takes to create, as well as the producers.
Katie Hinde’s dynamic TED talk will have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about breastmilk and how we treat it, both as a culture and a medical community.
And if you’re getting ready to breastfeed for the first time or are just starting out, be comforted knowing it often takes plenty of (painful) practice to get the hang of it.
