    I’m surprised Canada was ignored here, as such a close neighbor to the US. Canadian mothers are entitled to 1 year of paid leave. The first 17 weeks are applicable to mom only, the remaining 35 is "parental leave" allowing either mom or dad to make use of the other weeks. In other words, a woman can take between 4 and 12 months, a man can take 8 months (but any the father takes for leave takes away from the amount available to the mother). Still…. 1 year, most of which can be shared. Great deal.
