Few can say that they fundamentally shaped a sport. Even fewer people can claim that they all but invented a sport. Rodney Mullen can say that and more. Street skating and all the accompanying tricks––ollies, kick flips, and so on––wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Rodney Mullen’s obsessive skating. According to legend, he practiced nine or so hours a day, sometimes practicing all nights. He would constantly teach himself new tricks to demonstrate to skaters around the country, thus growing the sport.
