Song of a city: Architectural model of Eindhoven, Netherlands plunks out a tune [video]
Though the city of Eindhoven in the Netherlands won’t be compared to Beethoven any time soon, having a town play its own tune is an intriguing concept.
Akko Goldenbeld took an architectural model of the city, put it on a roller, then spun it to create its own music on the piano.
As explained in the YouTube commentary:
And turning and turning, the city makes its voice heard: from loud to soft, long to short, high-pitched to low, translating the urban developers’three dimensional reality into an aural experience. Stadsmuziek (City Music) makes you tune in to the ensemble-playing that is environmental planning.
